Part 2

In this part I've tried to discuss some of things that happened while I was at city hall. Keep in mind this is just my perspective. I had to break it up into two videos because of the size restrictions on the site. Part 3 will be up next week. Feel free to email me your comments and as always enjoy posting, and save the emails I know its a goofy face and my eyes are closed (I'm still learning how to blog).

that is crazy!!! i remember those things now, but at the time i just thought it was all a real random thing.

the people in office now dont do anything for anyone. where is the vision. maybe don should step in again at least he got things done.

Anonymous said...

sounds like a regular mob boss to me

that is one thing ive missed since you left is that nothing is getting done. people talk about dream stuff, but nothing happens.

they just fight and talk, but noone tries to do anything. well kingery tried to help 3R by last new years, but he failed at that.

Anonymous said...

you need to come back and run for mayor again. even with everything id vote for you and putting you with all your baggage up against people who do nothing but talk i bet youd win!

I can't wait for part 3. And something else that I've heard mentioned. Since Joe Humphries took over on the County Commision, there have been NO negative "SpeakOuts" in the DAR.
Are we to believe that everyone in the county is happy. I kinda doubt it.
Kinda makes you wonder who's pulling the strings at the courthouse doesn't it? Could it be D.S.?

Anonymous said...

Joe is a good guy, and I think he does a great job.

Things happen around here just like I thought they did. The big shots pull the strings and step on who they want to.

Anonymous said...

Its amazing how crazy everyone in town has gotten over a little blog. Sounds like part 3 is going to really stir things up.

i think don shriber has a napoleon little man's complex. i saw him once and he was so short. most really short people are like that.

Ok, so am I the only one that remembers scott running his mouth about Calvin and how he was going to "get" him???

Anonymous said...

I love this stuff! I've never looked so forward to a Wednesday. Keep it up.

Anonymous said...

Joe is not a comissoner anymore. But he is still a back stabber and has his hand in a lot of bad stuff.

Anonymous said...

I didn't understand who did you want to protect when you resigned from the CC?

Anonymous said...

when is the stuff that is "going to level poplar" coming out i'm anxious for it. Keep up the good work and lets get to the juicy stuff.

Anonymous said...

I love how he leaves out the bad things he did. Tell us how you threw a rock through your own window and blamed it on someone else. Or how you didn't even live in PB when you ran for city council. Everyone needs to remember that this guy was convicted by a jury of 12 people of stealing money from the organization he asked us all to give money to. Can we really believe the story this guy is trying to sell??

Anonymous said...

Yea that would have made sense to throw a brick through his own window, and if you would have checked your facts there were other people running who magically had bricks thrown through their windows as well. So is Don paying you because he should probably cut back your paychecks until you can get facts straight?!

Anonymous said...

i love poplar bluff noone refutes anything he says, just throws some stones at the kid.

its great to be in pb!

Anonymous said...

not that it would matter to your uninformed post, but he was found not guility, not guility of stealing.

he lost on forgery.

dont let the facts get in the way of your post though.

Anonymous said...

everyone knows he was protecting Whiteley thats why he quit the city council.

Anonymous said...

Why did he need to protect Whitley?

Anonymous said...

since you're on the subject how did dopehead danny become the chief of police anyway?

Anonymous said...

it wasnt whiteley. get a clue.

Anonymous said...

it doesnt matter "the don" will be after someone else in a month anyway.

Anonymous said...

Isn't Poplar Bluff and the DAR known for this type of stuff. Here's something a little funny that I was told quite a while back and thought about after watching Part 2. Hey, did anyone realize that Don S. had his photographer take his picture and then photoshop him next to George Bush when he came to town? In case you lost your copy of the newspaper, the picture is in Hardy Billington's book? Hilarious! The picture is supposedly a total fake.

Anonymous said...

Who were you protecting by quiting the CC?

Anonymous said...

I'm surprised anything negative ever gets in the paper about Danny W. and the police station with Michelle F. covering them. Does she ever bother talking to anyone other than cops when she "reports." She should probably take a lesson from CJ Cassidy on KFVS. She only comes to PB when something bad happens but at least she gets all sides of the story. That's why I turn to KFVS for my local news. Scott, you should take your story to CJ. I can imagine the bashing that little pupit's gonna give ya now that you've blasted her boss.

Anonymous said...

Michelle F. is a wanna be badge bunny.

Anonymous said...

the only reason channel 12 knows where pb is is so they can report on police reports.

Anonymous said...

humphrey is a good guy. dont knock him for keeping the books balanced and the county out of the headlines. he did a good job and now eddie is doing one.

Anonymous said...

all i know is everywhere i go people are talking about this blog. some hate it and some love it. if there wasnt something to what he is saying people wouldnt be so stirred up.

Anonymous said...

the big shots dont get upset unless someone is stepping on their toes. and i think their toes are bleeding.

Anonymous said...

I will not be surprised one bit if Mr. Joe Cool Faughn gets severely injured in the near future, not a threat from me, just stating that fact that this man is messing with some scary people.

Anonymous said...

they all suck, but at the very least he got more done while sucking in two years than they have since he left.

Anonymous said...

You consider this whistle blowing? You have kissed up to several people in both blogs, and only attacked one? You should title your blog, "Why I hate D.S., and so should you." You haven't said anything bad about anyone but D.S. Not that I was expecting much from this, but amazing how you protect yourself from the things you have done, protect and compliment people who you think might help you one day in whatever plans you have. I don't know about everyone else, but I am SHOCKED to hear that a paper and/or publisher can be biased. I am glad someone is talking about this because all of us thought that papers were fair and balanced. Get real Scott and realize that this is not helping you in any way, and you look childish.

PB isn't my hometown (thank goodness), but I'm pretty familiar with the goings-on there. Even if Scott is being completely self-serving by speaking out at this point, I think everyone in town should thank him. Because if nothing else, everyone should be charged to hold their hometown officials to a higher standard. And a wise man once said: "Foolish is the man who never reads a newspaper. Even more foolish is the man who believes everything he reads just because it's in the newspaper." And from what I've heard, from several people other than this blog, PB's local paper (and I use that term loosely) is a gossip rag at best. And that actually comes from people who have worked there in the past.

Anonymous said...

im just glad someone is speaking some truth to power. if he is flawed he is the only one brave enough to do it.

Anonymous said...

childish, i think when he was in office he was a child (21?)

back off the kid, if you want to take a shot at him put your name on it so we can kick you around a little too.

Anonymous said...

its amazing how many people left a negative comment and have probably watched both videos.

you know you love gossip!

Anonymous said...

if this is so bad then why is everyone i know talking about it. i think he is shaking things up, and the more the better.

Anonymous said...

this seems to be heading to some sort of a David vs. Golaith matchup.

Anonymous said...

i think the same people who would put up a comment criticizing scott are the same people that read the site 10 times a day.

Anonymous said...

i think the same people who would put up a comment criticizing scott are the same people that read the site 10 times a day.

Anonymous said...

its really really simple. if you think you get the straight shot about what happens in poplar bluff from don schriber then read the paper and bury your head in the sand. no big deal. see simple.

if you want another opinion, and that all this is his opinion. then check it out. if you hate it DONT READ IT! if you like it check it out.

see so very very SIMPLE

Anonymous said...

i dont see what the big deal is. i knew most of this stuff anyway. i have a blog too, and i write more interesting stuff than year old history of poplar bluff city hall.

Anonymous said...

i watched the video yesterday, and thought about it. i want to commend the guy for speaking his mind. that is something that is simply not done in poplar bluff.

yes it is a little self servinc, but he is a politician after all and they are self serving.

i like the current direction of government, but give the kid his due for standing up to some pretty big fish.

Anonymous said...

to answer the annonymous post put up at 10-18 at 10:56.

its not that simple. how can you live in poplar bluff and not hear about it. everyone is talking about this website so i think it totally fair game to criticize.

Anonymous said...

Scott's just presenting his side of the story. No one has to agree with it, but you can't fault him for it. Some people had the newspaper to present their side. This blog is his forum. It's not like he could turn to the local media. I agree with the commenter that said how simple it is to just not watch or read. But I bet the very people whose names he's dropping (like DS) are the ones sitting and waiting for his next post more than anyone, biting their lips wondering what he's going to say next. I think anybody's who has ever lived in PB for any period of time knows there's a lot of truth to what Scott's saying, regardless of his reasons for saying it.

Anonymous said...

what is the little man at the paper's reaction to faughn calling him out?

Anonymous said...

it says a TON about what he is saying that not one person has refuted anything he has said.

it also says a lot that this Don guy hasnt responded at all.

think what you want about the website, i think its stupid, but he has thrown some bombs and noone has refuted anything he has said.

Anonymous said...

Because it's true we all know it but we all including myself was afraid to do anything about it but that time has passed i'm glad it's all out and i'm ready to make a differance.

Anonymous said...

Why was it that for a long time none of the stores in Qulin would sell the DAR sombody had to go down there and sell them out of their car?

Anonymous said...

i remember when the DAR had unquestioned integrity. today it is a house of cards because of all the hit jobs its publisher undertakes.

people in qulin got real fed up with the attacks on the city and school, some folks stood up and now they dont bash qulin anymore.

in fact, since this blog went up the dar has been on pretty good behavior

Anonymous said...

i dont ever knock a man for speaking his peace. i also dont hear anyone disputing it.

im glad he said he made some mistakes, and he should have spoke up when things were happening.

i just dont like people down on other folks for saying what they have to say.

Anonymous said...

well speaking his peace is causing a lot of trouble.

scott, your a good guy who got a raw raw deal but you should shut up and go on with life.

Anonymous said...

Can someone please tell me who he was trying to protect by quiting the City Counsel?

Anonymous said...

Speaking his piece is also making a lot of people look twice or at least question what's happening in their own back yards and the integrity of their local media, which is a good thing. For years we've have been buying that paper relying on it to deliver our local news, not knowing that really what DAR does is pick and choose the news. When they want someone/group to look bad, they'll make sure to do it and vice versa. What is it a tabloid or a newspaper? Then again, I think it's been a long time since anyone has really had any respect for the paper.Pay close attention to DAR's coverage around election time. That coverage alone nearly proves all Scott's points. It's just a shame DAR's the only newspaper in town and that we don't have anywhere else to turn for local news, the good and the bad. They've had good reporters come and go over the years.Scott mentioned Linda R. She apparently tried to make a difference and was pushed out. Obviously the good reporters have the good sense to get out or maybe they're pushed out.

Anonymous said...

Linda was a friend of mine and she hated the fact she couldnt write any real stories about the city. i do think she liked scott, but didnt like being muzzled.

she left town so she could be a real journalist not a puppet. im going to email her this site. im sure she cant comment on it as she still works for rust.

seems like everyone works for rust and we are all in the blind.

Anonymous said...

No former DAR employee I've ever known has had anything positive to say about the place, and that's from the news dept on down to mailroom. A lot of people in town have worked there at one time or another. Kinda makes you feel bad for the ones there just trying to make a living and do their jobs. Because their boss is scum, they have to pay the price. He's not out there trying to take people's pictures or get people to buy an ad or talk for a story. So I'm sure he could care less as long as his interests are served and his own bank account grows. And as long as he can keep some good pupits on the payroll, he's probably satisfied. It's hard to enjoy any one thing in the paper when as a whole its a tarnished product. I will admit though that the "Around Town" page was a real good idea. The photographer is great. Most people really enjoy it. Corey does a great job. His non-news photography is great to. I've seen alot of his personal work. He's got a lot of talent. Without those pictures though, it makes you wonder sometimes what would they have to publish, seeing as how the real news is filtered so blatantly.

Anonymous said...

Ya know, I think we are all forgetting that nobody is perfect, including City Council. They all have a skeleton or two in their closets, and they all an idea as to what issues deserve the spot light. That's what makes City Council and City Hall so human. There are humans on City Council and if I was on City Council I would have my own agenda too. Everybody has a voice and opinion that wants to be heard. But plainly speaking, I don't think it was right that Scott led D.S. on by making him think he'd have a voice through Scott. I also think that Scott got a little bit of the big head, but who gave it to him? D.S., the DAR, the people in PB trying to see some young blood, but it just totally sucked that old blood was trying to run it's course through Scott's veins.

We can be human, but let's be decent about it. Scott, I hope you have learned a lot so that you do much better in the future. Work hard at it and it will happen. As for City Council and the City Hall office, I think they do the best they can with what they have to work with. In my opinion though, I think Betty Absheer needs to go. She's been bossin' way too long.

I would like to say to the people who think Scott should shut up and not say his piece. I have been very close to Scott for many years, through the good and bad decisions he has made. He has changed. What is worse is I seen him change as people who were his peers, ask things of him that were not right. Like firing people. I'm glad he realized that was not the right thing to do, yes maybe alittle late, but at least he did learn. I would say he say seen and learned alot in his 28 years. I never heard anyone telling the paper to shut up to ease up on Scott, to quit firing shots. do you know he spent 3 years keeping his mouth shut, NO ONE, only the Publisher of the paper felt the need to hammer Scott in the paper day after day, NO ONE else was upset, To this day NO one is upset. You set on this Blog and wonder why nothing gets done in Poplar Bluff since he left
town would you be stupid enough to do anything here either, after the thanks they give him for working literally day and night to get a road built. Thank but no thanks!

Who's the "bumbling/ass grabbing drunk" running the DAR news department? Sounds like that place is a joke!

Scott R. Faughn said...

I had a computer malfunction and lost about 4 posts today. I was trying to upload them to the site and my cpu froze and had to restart.

So if the posts about me being a "master manipulator", the one that paid the very nice compliment to the highway project, the one that complainted about anyone having the audacity to critize the DAR, and the one about how Don took it easy on the college last night could be resent Ill get them up as soon as possible.

Sorry about the mixup.

Scott R. Faughn said...

Also maybe someone can fill me in about who you are talking about running the news department. I dont know him well, but Ive never heard much bad about the editor. Ive been gone a while and like I said I dont know the situation well so maybe Im off base.

I got an email yesterday from a DAR employee saying that they had a editoral hitting back at me for this blog. If its going to be coherent Stan will have to write it.

Anonymous said...

I dont care what anyone says. Scott is a bad guy, he was a bad mayor, he sucks etc.

But anyone who has any insight into poplar bluff knows that if this blog wasnt up the dar would have reamed the college over their audit issues.

Say what you want about him, but absolutely noone with a clue can deny that!

Can anything good come out of Stringtown?

Yes the newsroom at the DAR is still run by a bumbling drunk!! I know that for a fact!

This town is so sad... I couldn't wait to get out of here once I graduated from high school. Reading about the corrupt publisher, DS, at the DAR makes me sick. Kutos to you Scott for bringing this to the public eye.

Anonymous said...

a "wanna be" mob boss

Anonymous said...

I have got to post this. I worked for DS for years... I have got to post this. I worked for DS for years at the DAR and he is a very back stabbing person.

(Paragraph deleted due to personal attacks on a public figure's family)

He would rather hire a very inexperienced person who he can pay minimum wage than keep a very dedicated employee who had been with him for years. He has his handy man, Randy, who is so far up his butt that he'll do anything to get up there higher. Stan Berry is no better. He will do anything that Don says just to keep him in his good graces because he has been on "Don's List" more than once. Talk about stabbing people in the back... It's really sad!! I once respected DS very much. But now I have a chance to voice my "anonymous" opinion. Believe me.. there is so much more to tell!!

Anonymous said...

as you can see by this website nothing good comes out of Stringtown.

Anonymous said...

i totally agree that having this website calling out some people will make the dar stay on good behavior.

Anonymous said...

how about the city cop that got in trouble for gettin a BJ from a suspect. I mean it was even caught on video in the police department but nothing was ever said about that. Just goes to show what gets reported and what does'nt.

Anonymous said...

Everything that comes out of Stringtown is good.

Anonymous said...

its a small town, the prosecutors wife nah no need to look into that, a highway patrolman getting favors, nah.

Anonymous said...

if they want you they will get you.

mr. faughn, they got you once and you better watch your back or your name can go back on the list.

Anonymous said...

Good to see that Scott is a little less intimidated now that he's no longer and town and doesn't have to bow to the "powers that be." And now that DS and his "newspaper" or whatever's he's running over there has been drug across the coals and exposed a bit, hopefully they'll concentrate a little more on competance. But I doubt it. With a drunk, philandering editor in charge, what could you possibly expect from the employees.

Anonymous said...

I dont think you should say much about anyone else when you were drinking Friday night.

This is the best website in poplar bluff. finally the little guy is getting over on the big guys.

im a sucker for a comeback!

such classic poplar bluff. lets not disupte what he is saying defend don or put forth your own ideas.

lets attack the messenger, and all they have left is they were with him Friday night.

I don't think anybody would bash the man for drinking if he didn't come to work dripping in booze. Then again, if I worked for DS and was in charge of putting out his paper, I'd probably have to get drunk just to be able to stand coming to work too.
