My Side Part 1

For anyone that cares I sat down and gave my version of what went down with me. It would be too long (and probably too dull) to post it all at once so I broke it down into three segments.

In the first part I try to give some insight on running for office in Poplar Bluff, or at least my insight. In part two, which will be up next Wednesday, I'll discuss my time as mayor, and talk a little about my experiences with city hall. Also so you know I got the emails and I'll talk about Calvin. In the third, I'll finally get to give my side of scandals, trials, and that big strip of highway being laid north of town.

If you have any questions or comments drop me a line at srfaughn@hotmail.com and I'll address them next week.

Or you can catch it on you tube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBveFRm7_Mo

I remember the cartoon deal, but I didnt know why they did that. I guess it really is who you know.

It's a good start i hope theres somthing that going to make people sweat.

Anonymous said...

If they arent sweating now they should be.

Ive heard some of these stories but I guess there was more to them than coffee shop gossip.

you are not a credible source anymore. who even cares.

but i also cant stand the DAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott R. Faughn said...

Who is credible? Rick is pretty fair, and in my opinion most all of the people at the DAR are good folks who work hard, but when the boss sets his sights on an enemy what can they do? He signs the checks.

Was Dan Rather credible? The New York Times? Rush Limbaugh?

I enjoy discussing community issues and wanted to tell you my side of some of the stories you've heard. Take em or leave em.

One last thing. Did you think it was credible that from January '02 to October '04 everything that was printed about me was glowing, but when I stood up to Don just once everything printed from October '04 to today was awful.

Think about it.

Calhoun might have gave you a run for your money for Mayor. But, he's got plenty of skeletons in his closet as well.

Anonymous said...

I know, very well, a few folks that work at the DAR. And you very rarely hear anything good about D.S.

Anonymous said...

You rarely will hear anything good about a snake in the grass until someone does something about it

Looks like you have a vendetta against the people who ultimately proved your true colors. You saw under handed things going on and did nothing. You are acting like you are taking the moral high ground now, why not then. You are just as guilty as the people you are trying to make look bad now. I might understand the look you are going for with the loose tie and hair not perfect. Trying to look like you have no stress, care free, and relaxed. Truth is you look like a slob and someone who is disorganized.

Its called freedom of speech, its an amendment; study it! Keep on, keepin on Scott! Mr.Jones would be PROUD!!

Ya I should have stood up to Don before I did. That is just a fact, and I let a lot of people down for not.

However, at the time I kept telling myself that if I appease when necessary that I could get a few things accomplished like build a highway.

Holier than thou I am certainly not, but one of the annonymous posters tripped over something I didn't do. There was no Chamber affair. That is just simply not true.

But back to your point. Its valid, but if I would have spoken up there would be no highway, we would have still been fighting with the county, and the city would have continued in turmoil.

But overall good points.

I thought your hair looked good.

Anonymous said...

When is part 2 up?

Anonymous said...

I still cant believe they just write waht they want. It is a pretty big bully that does that.

Anonymous said...

How old were you when all of this was going on?

Anonymous said...

Since you are answering questions, I gotta know your answer on the motorcycle that you purchased from Whitely's. Was it purchase with Chamber/Hwy 67 money or not?

Scott R. Faughn said...

Absolutely not. It was just something that sounded good when Don was smearing me.

Its funny that no one ever asks me hey Scott did you pay for those Highway 67 mailings with your own money, or hey Scott did you pay for all of those calls you made begging the state for money out of your families' budget.

I used to wonder why people in government dont announce bold ideas and actually try to solve problems. Ive found out that it is a hard row to hoe.

Anonymous said...

So, what did you do that was illegal? Didn't you plead guilty? If the motorcycle story wasn't true then why didn't you sue the DAR for slander? I guess I am having a hard time believing that you did nothing wrong and all of the scandal was made up to run you out of town.

Anonymous said...

From what I hear Don Schreiber sure can hold a grudge once he get's ticked off with someone. He get's even one way or another.
I just wonder if he would ever print a bad story about his good buddy Louis Snider? I highly doubt it. I'll bet if ol' Louis got another DUI it wouldn't make it in the paper.
But as I said they're pretty good buddies. They used to spend a lot of afternoons at Louis' Downtown Development Place. Probably in there deciding who to go after next.
It's just to bad that his editors don't have the integrity to print the truth.

Anonymous said...

In future installments. Are you going to get into your innocence or guilt regarding the charges that were made about you?
I'm not saying you did or didn't do anything. I know what I read in the paper. But if Don Schrieber prints what he wants to print instead of the whole truth. Some of the accusations may have been very misleading to the reader.

I've read some of these post wondering why you're coming out with this now and not when all of this was happening.
Why you're doing it now, I have no idea. But I can tell these people, that post these questions...Someone's heart can be changed. It happens all the time. People (no offense Scott) grow up and realize that there are more important things than they're place on the social and political ladder.

Anonymous said...

hey what about that bank that gave out all your information? u ever sue them?

Anonymous said...

what bank sent your account statements to the DAR i heard it was commerce.

Anonymous said...

"Its funny that no one ever asks me hey Scott did you pay for those Highway 67 mailings with your own money, or hey Scott did you pay for all of those calls you made begging the state for money out of your families' budget."

Someone who is pissed about money they spend out of pocket might decide that they need to get a little something out for themselves for the hard work and own money. Maybe take a little here, a little there, then all of the sudden you are officially embezzling. Just a thought.

Anonymous said...

GOOD point Stacie. But isn't Scott saying bad thing about Don, Why would you praise Scott when he is doing exactly what you are saying is wrong? If Scott can't say anything good about someone why say anything at all.

Anonymous said...

The DAR have had all the chance they want to throw mud at this kid. I dont mind him throwing a little back.

Anonymous said...

I just read the site, WOW. This may be just what this town needs. I would be freaking out if this kid knew something on me right now.

Anonymous said...

D. S. should not have used a 21 year old to do his dirty work if he didnt want it coming back to bite him.

I thought the big shots were using him all along, and then threw him to the side. Sad story, I think he deserves to give them a few pokes.

Anonymous said...

I just have to say that I work at the DAR and you were pretty cocky when you knew Don wouldnt print anything bad about you.

Everyone at work knew he would burn you when he was done with you. Youre a nice guy, but dont forget you sure liked it when he had your back.

However, I think I speak for a lot of people at the DAR when I say Give Don hell!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

no i was told by someone who would know that it was US Bank that passes around people's bank statements like notes in study hall.

that really should be illegal.

Anonymous said...

Scott, you stated in your Oct 10th comment that you "stood up to Don". What exactly did you do to stand up to him? Please explain.

Anonymous said...

i heard it was a board member at first missouri state bank that gave your financial information to the paper. man i wouldn't want to bank with them if their board is passing out peoples private information. if they did that to you then i hope you address that.

Anonymous said...

Wasn't it the hwy 67 public account fund? If so, shouldn't everyone be able to see the account and the funds that were missing.

Anonymous said...

Well as far as WHO leaked the info about the account... It was said in federal court... From what I gather when D.S. had the choice of keeping his "source" confidential or doing a little jail time he stated who everyone close knew. It was Jasper Edmundson...I am sure there is a lawsuit in there somewhere.
Scott please use this opportunity right a few wrongs.

Anonymous said...

Edmundson is one of the biggest crooks in poplar bluff. The thing that makes me mad is why do we all put up with it. We need to have federal investigators come in and check everything out.

Anonymous said...

its nice to know Jasper Edmundson is poking around in peoples financial records & dropping info to the paper. i'm glad i don't have an account at first missouri.

GOOD point on your behalf as well, whoever corrected me. I didn't catch that when I was writing it.. So Scott be nice, and if you can't say anything nice, don' say anything at all, be bigger than them... ;) xoxo

isnt it against the law to do stuff like that?

Anonymous said...

ya, but I doubt ol Barbour will work too many hours on prosecuting that.

did they even investigate him?

Anonymous said...

i dont think kevin barbour works much past noon on anything, and never works past miller time any day

Anonymous said...

when is part 2 up?

Anonymous said...

they only investigate if someone files a complaint, or if somone in town with stroke tells them to.

Anonymous said...

they will "investigate" most anything, but if the fix is in there isnt a damn thing you can do about it.

I thought you weren't going to get personal with the commments you were posting. Looks to me like you threw that rule out the window. Typical politician. Pretty low to post a comment that involves someones family and especially there high school daughter.

Your absolutely right. It is gone, and I apologize for it being up there. I thought it was deleted.

It is gone now, and again only a couple rules. 1) lets lay off the cursing, and 2) if a public figure does it a work then its fair game, if its in their personal life let leave it off here.

Can you explain to me how you read that and decided to post it anyway? You clearly have a vendetta against him and will use any piece of uncredible information that someone posts against him. The post was left on there for 24 hours and was probably read by a thousand people. If you want to tell your side fine but I've seen posts in here calling local professionals drug dealers, users and drunks with no evidence to support these claims which is irresponsible. Aren't these personal? This is fine as long as your ready to face the fire when all of your skelatons come out of the closet.

Scott R. Faughn said...

Once again I am sorry that was posted. Ive deleted several posts that were far worse and even deleted some not quite as harsh. That one slipped. Once again Im sorry you had to read that, and the minute you brought it to my attention I deleted it. Honestly, this blog is becoming quite a job to keep up with.

As for your phrase about a local professional being drug dealers. I have no idea whether that is true, but I think most drug dealers would be offended by being lumped into such company as the man described.
